I'm hoping that someone can help me with this lightroom error/message. I'm not sure if part of my program isn't loaded correctly or what but I can't seem to even get into it. I want to play!

Thanks!

I think that shayenne is probably right. I think I had to do this after I had cleaned off all kinds of old pics!

That happened to me once, but I can't remember for the life of me what's the way out. I think it's choose a different catalog.

My laptop is networked to the desktop so there aren't any pictures directly on my laptop. Wonder if that will cause it to always have issues. I'll try messing around with it soon. Thanks for the tips!

The only time I've had this happen is when my catalog went bad :( Have you been backing them up regularly (I backup my current catalog once a week)? When it happened to me, I lost all my edits because I didn't have a backup. I hope that's not your problem!

I've never even been able to open Lightroom. I just tried to select a different catalog and noticed this message:

I guess I'm confused about how to create a catalog in the first place. I'm wondering if I need to put pictures onto my laptop directly and then how do they get into a catalog?

i keep all my photos on a network drive, then keep my catalogs on my local drive. You've never opened it once? That's very strange. You should be able to open it without having a catalog. You can then create a catalog and import photos into it.

Are you using the latest version? The latest is 2.2. Maybe try upgrading?
